YIN ART LAB™
Past Life — Shuyue Amber Yin ( 2024, HongKong )
The installation art, inspired by American hypnotherapist and author Dr. Brian Weiss's past life regression treatment. Central to the piece is a vision seen by the artist during a past-life dream—of a young girl living harmoniously with small animals in nature. However, the tranquility is abruptly shattered as the earth splits apart, and rising sea levels begin to engulf the land. Water floods the scene, and many of the creatures she once held dear disappear beneath the surface, leaving behind only a lone, delicate sika deer.
This work symbolizes resilience, memory, and the fragile balance between human connection and the forces of nature.
The World Left in Your Wake — Shuyue Amber Yin ( 2024, Switzerland )
This installation art tells a powerful story about verbal abuse. At the center of the installation stands a female figure, upright and unwavering, despite the verbal attacks that surge toward her like arrows. These arrows, made from paper, symbolize the sharp, piercing nature of abusive language, yet their fragility suggests that their power lies more in perception than substance.
The woman's skin is constructed from pieces of paper, intricately layered to form her body, symbolizing how external voices and societal labels have shaped her identity. These paper fragments represent the words and judgments others have cast upon her, sticking to her like labels that define her in the eyes of those around her.
Despite the suffocating environment, the woman maintains a stance of strength and defiance. She is not merely a passive figure—she actively struggles to shed the paper shell that covers her, attempting to break free from the false identity imposed by the verbal abuse. The delicate yet resilient nature of the paper emphasizes the tension between fragility and strength, as the woman pushes through the layers of external definitions to reclaim her true self.
